Can you text a PDF file with standard text messages?

Yes, you can text PDF files with standard text messages. Our texting technology allows you to send & receive SMS text messages, MMS photos & images, PDFs, videos, audio files and contacts as vCards. The only limitation in texting files and images with MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) is the file size. You need to remember that SMS & MMS were developed in the 90’s and have not changed much since then. Also, different mobile phone service providers have different file size standards for MMS.

Can you text a PDF file with MMS picture messaging?

You can text PDFs with standard text messages using your existing business phone number. MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) is a usual way to text with photos, images, videos, audio, PDF, and vCard contacts over a mobile network.

What kind of PDF files can I text?

You can text PDF files of any type with MMS, as long as they are under 1MB in size. Our service has this limit because different mobile carriers have different file size requirements for compatibility. Some carriers might allow bigger files, but we can’t guarantee it.

How to text PDF documents:

To text a PDF, you need Texty Pro to enable texting on your business phone number. After verifying and enabling your number, just drag & drop your PDF file into the text box and hit send. That’s it. The recipient will see your business phone number as the sender. To get a PDF by text, the sender will use your business phone number and attach the PDF to the text. You can view the PDF on our website or mobile app. You can text and get PDFs without any problem as long as the PDF file is under 1MB.

How to text large PDF files:

If you want to text a large PDF file that is over 1MB, one way to do it is by saving the PDF file to cloud storage and texting the link to the file via SMS.

Here are the steps:

  1. Save the PDF file to a cloud storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox. Get the link to share the PDF file. This can usually be done by right-clicking on the file and choosing “Get shareable link” or a similar option.
  2. Open your Texty Pro on the web or using our mobile apps to compose a new message. Paste the link to share into the message field. Add any text or context you need to the message. Text the message to the recipient.
  3. Once the recipient gets the SMS message, they can click on the link to open and view the PDF file in their web browser or in the cloud storage app. Note that this method may not be good for private or confidential documents, as the link to the file can be shared or forwarded to others.
