Use the team tab to send a message to one or more member
It depends on the context and purpose of the private channel. A private channel is meant for team collaboration on a specific project or task, then sending a DM to a message in that channel could be useful for clarifications or follow-up questions related to that specific message. However, if the private channel is meant for confidential or sensitive information that should not be shared outside of the channel, then sending a DM to a message in that channel could potentially compromise the security and privacy of the information. In general, it's best to follow the established communication norms and guidelines of the private channel to ensure effective and secure collaboration.
Direct messaging allows any member to start a conversation with one or more other members. Like private channels, all messages are only seen by included members. They are perfect way to get in touch with another user, without using any other messaging platform. Direct messages are separate from your text messages, and are for your internal communication purposes. Your messages will not affect your SMS count.
A new channel will be created containing the member(s) you selected. Direct messages are organized by the display name(s) of the member(s) included. Messages sent in the channel will go to all members added. If direct messages contain more than 2 members, the total number of users is displayed instead of a profile photo next to the display names.
